Safe House Seven Path

This approach is a therapeutic praxis I developed using several different western therapeutic modalities complemented by some indigenous practices and technologies. This approach goes through seven different thresholds that may each take anywhere from one to several sessions to complete. Generally speaking, this entire therapeutic process can take anywhere from 12-16 sessions (3-4 months). This is an alternative therapeutic approach that is more structured and tends to offer more depth of exploration in a shorter period of time. Each session is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes in duration. Below is a brief description of the process.

Cost: $210 per session

Multigenerational Narratives

Threshold #1 - Oriki / Multigenerational Narratives

We will explore the known stories of your ancestors; both their struggles and legacy. We will then look at three generations: grandparents, parents, and yourself and the relational dynamics that surround them, as well as individual struggles and accomplishments. From this exploration, we begin to sift through multigenerational patterns that may be connected to your current issues and challenges.

Personal Narrative

Threshold # 2 - Itan / Personal Narrative

You will have the opportunity to share in a creative format your own personal narrative, including the environment/land you grew up in/on; your own trials, accomplishments and major inflection points. Through this unfolding we will begin to identify experiences from the past that have a thematic source and parallel to any issues you are struggling with in the present.

Parts Work

Threshold # 3 - Ara, Emi, Ori / Parts Work

I will introduce you to a variation of Internal Family Systems theory that theorizes that we are made up of several parts or intrapsychic systems . When these parts are balanced and in harmony, an individual experiences well being. However if any of these parts are marginalized, given too much power or in conflict with other parts, this can often cause suffering to the system as a whole. Together we will examine the make-up of your unique parts system and learn practices to align your parts into balance and harmony.

Deep Dive

Threshold #4 - Olokun / Deep Dive

The Unconscious is said to be the liminal space between material and spiritual planes. It is an ocean of individual and collective wisdom that the western world knows little of how to access. There are however practices that exist within many indigenous cultures and more esoteric branches of psychology that can grant an individual access to these subterranean waters. Through dreamwork, earth centered practices, active imagination and/or plant medicine integration, clients can decide if/how they would like to enter into connection with something greater than their conscious ego and social conditioning. Bringing clients closer to a source of wisdom that can guide them to greater communion with themselves, others and the natural world.

Integration

Threshold # 5 - Ebo / Integration

From the teachings of the unconscious / transcendent realms, we begin to identify the theme(s) and lessons that surfaced from the unconscious exploration and incorporate them into daily practices. We will also identify a creative and/or communal offering that the client will perform as an act of  ‘sacred reciprocity’ to honor through action, the gift(s) of insight that they received.

Circle of Care

Threshold # 6 -  Ile Elofun/ Circle of Care

In most indigenous cultures, healing is a communal act as much as it is an individual one. The community itself is an active agent in the restoration of an individual as much as it is a recipient of the health of each of its members. As such, the client will have an opportunity to invite their loved ones into a circle process in which the client’s ‘Circle of Care’ can bring forward their own experiences, insights, energy, and appreciation for the client in a safe environment that is intended to utilize the power of the collective to affirm and support the client’s greatest potential.

Closure & Application

Threshold # 7 - Ebo Da / Closure & Appreciation

At last, we will reflect on the whole process of our healing journey together. A final moment to concretize practices, and appreciate the work and relationship that was forged.
